The story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, and the discovery of first love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. Alana and Gary have never met before picture-taking day at Gary’s high school. Alana young woman seeking to find and define herself beyond her uninspiring job as a photographer’s aide. Gary has already established himself as a working actor - and is quick to tell Alana this in an attempt to impress her. She is amused and intrigued by his preternatural confidence and they strike up a heartfelt, if awkward, rapport.

POL TOMAS ANDERSON / Paul Thomas Anderson

Anderson got into film-making at a young age. After enrolling in N.Y.U.’s film program for two days, Anderson got his tuition back and made his own short film. He worked as a production assistant on numerous commercials and music videos before he got the chance to make his first feature. His first short film was developed and financed through The Sundance Lab. The success of Boogie Nights (1997) brought him the chance to work on projects of his choice - Magnolia (1999), for which he won the Golden Bear in Berlin. He received the award for the Best Director in Cannes for Punch-Drunk Love (2002), and he won the same award in Venice for The Master (2012). His work There Will Be Blood (2007), for which he won the Silver Bear for Best Director in Berlin, is considered one of the best films of the first decade of the 21^st century.
